Appeals Policy

Izabrands Ltd, trading as My Academy
Address: 86-90 Paul Street, London, Greater London EC2A 4NE

We offer a formal process for learners who wish to challenge an assessment decision. Assessments are conducted based on the criteria set by the relevant Awarding Organisation (AO), where applicable. All assessments are carried out by Assessors who hold a recognised qualification in assessment.

Scope of Appeals

Our Appeals Policy provides learners with the opportunity to formally contest specific assessment decisions, including:

Decisions made by the AO’s External Quality Assurer that conflict with the Assessor’s or Internal Quality Assurer’s judgement (e.g., if an internal assessment marked as passed by the centre’s Assessor is overturned by the External Quality Assurer).

Outcomes of applications for reasonable adjustments.

Assessment decisions made by us.

Appeals Procedure

Stage 1
Learners should first discuss their intention to appeal with the Assessor who delivered the decision on the day they are informed. If they remain dissatisfied with the outcome of this discussion, they must complete an Appeals Application Form and send it to info@myacademy.com or post it to:

Internal Quality Assurer

The completed form must be submitted within five working days of receiving the assessment decision, along with any supporting evidence (refer to the Additional Notes section below). Appeals submitted after this deadline will not be reviewed.

Stage 2
Upon receiving the appeal, our Internal Quality Assurer will conduct an investigation. A written response outlining the decision will be sent to the learner within 20 working days of receiving the appeal. If the learner is dissatisfied with the outcome, they may escalate the matter directly to the AO.

Additional Notes

Appeals without impartial evidence cannot be considered. For appeals concerning practical assessments, disagreements with the decision must be supported by a video recording of the assessment.

Learners may record any part of their practical assessment using their own equipment, provided it does not disrupt the assessment, other learners, or the Assessor’s ability to perform their role.

It is the learner’s responsibility to arrange for a person to operate the recording equipment.

Any medical issues likely to impact performance during the assessment must be communicated to us prior to the assessment date to allow for a deferral decision to be made, if necessary.
