Matwork Stage Three Programme Introduction

IntroductionThis course equips Pilates teachers with the necessary skills to conduct detailed medical, lifestyle, and posture screenings, enabling them to safely and effectively guide clients through beginner, intermediate, and advanced one-to-one personal training sessions. Building on the foundation of Matwork Parts 01 & 02, this stage allows for the quick integration of new skills into practice with case study clients.

Hours Summary

  • Standard Diploma: 4  Days, 32 lecture hours, Self-Study, One Case Study Assessment, and Workbook Completion 18 Hours, Self-practice 40 hours. Total Teacher Development: 79 Hours.

Certification and Renewal

  • Matwork Certificate Validity: Valid for 2 years with a requirement for ongoing education to maintain verification with 14 hours Teacher Development Hours every 2 years. (Automatic renewal when enrolled on the Matwork Diploma Course and actively attending.)

Course Content

  • Face to Face Tutor Time: 21 hours.
  • Postural Assessment: Techniques for assessing client postures and recognising misalignments.
  • Muscle Testing: Examples for assessing muscle length and strength.
  • Specific One to One Modifications: Tailoring adaptations and progressions for each movement.
  • Programme Design: Creating Pilates programmes based on client aims and postural assessments.
  • Screening: Techniques for gathering client information, including interview role plays and referral procedures.
  • Teaching Styles and Learning Stages: Enhancing personal trainer skills.
  • Pilates Based Equipment Introduction: Use of stability ball, small ball, Isotoner ring, resistance band, and foam roller (subject to venue availability).
  • Pilates Labs: Practical sessions for conducting consultations, postural assessments, and Pilates sessions under supervision.
  • Formative Assessment: Evaluation of Pilates Lab for personal development.

Support Materials

  • Handbook and Workbook: Downloadable PDF files for use during Face to Face tutor time.
  • Video Content: Provided for those who have not attended MK Pilates Matwork Stages One and Two.

Assessment

  • Workbook Documentation: Outlining 8 sessions for 1 Case Study Client, including postural assessment, health and lifestyle questionnaires, and liability release form.
  • Photographic Records: Before and after session photographs for each case study.
  • Practical Assessment: May vary centre to centre; typically a video submission of the eight sessions with a client.
  • Self-Evaluation: Written evaluation of video submission focusing on client’s technique and personal teaching skills.

Prerequisites

  • MK Pilates Matwork Part One and Part Two attended or completed or appropriate equivalent training.
