Soulful Sunday: Pilates and the Power of Living in the Present

A sleek planner reinforcing the blog's message of living in the moment, day by day
Modern digital calendar emphasising the importance of staying present and focused on today

As we reach the end of another week, it's time to pause and reflect. Here on Soulful Sunday, we aim to offer you a fresh perspective, a moment of calm to help you centre yourself and refocus for the days ahead. Today, I want to share a thought that truly resonated with me, one that I hope will inspire you as much as it did me.

We all know the value of planning—especially in our line of work as Pilates teachers, where preparation is key. With a convention just around the corner, I find myself diving into session planning, ensuring that every detail is in place. And while forward-thinking is essential, I've been reminded recently of the importance of balance in our approach to time.

The best piece of advice I've ever been given is beautifully simple: Don't let yourself get caught up in anything more than two days ahead or two days behind. The past is history—it's done and finished. The future? It will come in due time. But right now, in this very moment, is where we should focus our energy.

It's not always realistic, especially when we have responsibilities that require our attention. However, when the stress starts to creep in, I find great comfort in this approach. If I start to feel overwhelmed, I remind myself to live just two days at a time. It’s a mindset that allows me to stay grounded, to give my best in the present without being overshadowed by the weight of what's past or the anxiety of what's to come.

So, as you go into this week, give it a try. Live one day at a time, and see how it transforms your approach—not just to teaching Pilates, but to life itself.

Wishing you a peaceful and reflective Soulful Sunday.
