Soulful Sunday Reflection: Surrounding Yourself with the Right People in Pilates

Depicting the importance of surrounding ourselves with positive influences versus energy-draining individuals
Energising 'batteries' and draining 'vacuums' in our lives

As Pilates teachers, we understand the importance of energy—both in our bodies and in our lives. Today, let's take a moment to reflect on the people we surround ourselves with, as they play a crucial role in our overall well-being and motivation.

As professionals who work with clients, we inevitably encounter all types of people.

Recognising these different types of individuals can serve as a protective barrier, helping us manage our interactions more effectively. However, on your days off, when you are not working with clients, it's important to consciously choose who you surround yourself with.

It's essential to be mindful of who we spend our time with. There are generally two types of people in this world: those who uplift us and those who drain us. I often refer to them as "batteries" and "vacuums" (or "energy vampires").

Batteries are individuals who leave us feeling more energised and enthusiastic about life. After spending time with them, we feel inspired, motivated, and ready to tackle new challenges. They bring a positive spark to our lives, encouraging us to be our best selves.

On the other hand, vacuums (or energy vampires) are people who deplete our energy. Just a few minutes in their company can leave us feeling exhausted and drained. They tend to suck the vitality out of us, making it harder to stay positive and motivated.

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I can offer is to seek out more "batteries" in your life. Spend more time with those who inspire and uplift you. Conversely, it's important to distance yourself from "vacuums"—those who drain your energy and bring negativity into your life.

Your energy is precious, and the community you build around you is vital. Recognise when someone is diminishing your energy and taking away from your sense of well-being. Prioritise relationships that contribute to your growth, happiness, and inspiration.

We create an environment that fosters positivity and success by surrounding ourselves with the right people. Let's use this Soulful Sunday to reflect on our relationships and make conscious choices about who we allow into our inner circle. Choose to spend your time with those who make you feel better about yourself and who encourage you to be a better person.

Here's to cultivating a supportive and energising community around us!
